Marashene (le Roux) Lewis |
|
Marashene lives in
Helderkruin, Roodepoort, Johannesburg.
She had Art as
one of her main subjects at school for 5 years with the
artist David Botha, a contemporary of Gregoire Boonzaaier,
as teacher.
She loved working with people and decided to follow a career as a Professional Nurse. She retired from nursing at the end of 2004 to start a new career as an artist. Despite working fulltime, she managed to maintain her interest in Art, occasionally as work pressure permitted, attending Art courses. Marashene has been blessed to be able to travel overseas several times. This enabled her to visit classical and contemporary galleries in the United Kingdom, Holland, France, Germany and Italy. She also lived in Stratford-upon-Avon during 1986 for 8 months while her husband was in the U.K. for study purposes. She is married to Brian Lewis, a consulting Civil Engineer and they have 3 children, who are all married. They have three grandsons. At the end of 2007 Marashene had her first solo exhibition at Dastkari Art Gallery in Midrand. It was a great success. 15 paintings sold the opening night. In 2009 Marashene exhibited more of her work at Alice Art as part of their New Signatures exhibition. Click on thumbnails below for bigger pictures. Double-click to restore.
